Problem & Objective

During my freelance endeavors, I embarked on a project to enhance my skills in design, branding, marketing, content strategy, and product design. The challenge involved creating a marinara sauce company from scratch.

Here are a few of the tasks I set out to accomplish:

  • Innovate a marinara sauce brand that stands out amidst a sea of ordinary options, setting Sausea apart as a uniquely enticing choice.
  • Develop a myriad of compelling Unique Selling Propositions (USPs) to entice and captivate a broad audience, making Sausea the go-to choice.
  • Infuse captivating storytelling into marketing communications, forging a stronger and more personal connection with the intended audiences.
  • Shape the narrative by conceptualizing the fictional founders' stories and crafting products rooted in their rich backgrounds and experiences.
  • Devise a comprehensive a social media, SMS, and email marketing technique to increase brand awareness and personalize content for a more impactful consumer connection.

I was tasked with:

  • Developing a comprehensive visual brand identity for Sausea, encompassing everything from logos to product designs.
  • Conducting in-depth research to define Sausea's core buyer personas to inform decisions related to customer needs, product development, brand voice, and overarching marketing strategies.
  • Producing vibrant deliverables and mockups for diverse touchpoints—products, social posts, emails, and more—to create an immersive and consistent brand experience across every consumer interaction.
  • Creating captivating designs and writing engaging copy for promotional content, specifically for a compelling welcome sequence email campaign targeted to grab consumer attention and interest right from sign up.

Solution & Accomplishments

I completed these tasks by extensively researching competitors and potential audiences before embarking on the brand conceptualization. Crafting the founders' stories, brand voice, and marketing messaging was a result of a keen understanding of the targeted audience. Additionally, I innovatively devised Unique Selling Points to enrich the storytelling and elevate the overall marketing strategy.

Accomplishments:

  • Conducted in-depth research to delineate precise buyer personas, humanizing the target audience for tailored messaging.
  • Established a core brand personality with an entertaining brand voice that is casual, funny, and conversational to personally connect with the audience using storytelling to entertain and excite them across all channels.
  • Selected colors reflective of the founders' Middle Eastern background, drawing inspiration from colors found on the Syrian flag.
  • Crafted compelling Unique Selling Points, setting Sausea apart in the highly competitive marinara sauce industry.
  • Conceived distinctive slogans, infusing brand messaging with a memorable touch to elevate marketing endeavors.
  • Conceptualized and designed diverse marketing materials, bringing Sausea's brand identity to life across various touchpoints.
  • Formulated data-driven marketing strategies, encompassing social media, content, email marketing, and partnerships, grounded in extensive competitive research.
  • Innovated an alternative marketing strategy, integrating influencer collaborations and retailer partnerships, while pinpointing content strategy tactics for a uniquely positioned brand in the industry.

Learnings & Takeaways

In navigating this project, I gained valuable insights into culturally sensitive branding, utilizing storytelling across multiple channels, and personalizing messages to forge meaningful connections with the target audience. This knowledge helped me showcase the brand's unique products in ways that made them stand out from more traditional options.
